Iowa School Performance Profiles
The state has released their annual online reporting tool called the Iowa School Performance Profiles, as required by a federal education law called the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These profiles reflect how public schools performed on a set of accountability measures, such as results on the statewide assessment, graduation rates, and academic growth.
The tool displays a school’s score based on overall performance, as well as scores based on the performance of subgroups of students. Based on these scores, schools can be identified for additional funding, support, and improvement.

Holly Anderson Named 2022 Middle School Iowa Athletic Director of the Year
Holly Anderson, Activities Director at Northview Middle School, has been chosen as the 2022 Middle School Athletic Director of the Year by the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association. Holly was chosen for her outstanding dedication and leadership of young student-athletes.
“We are excited that Holly is receiving this much deserved recognition,” said Dr. Erick Pruitt, Superintendent of Ankeny Schools. “She is great leader, to both her students and also to her fellow staff members.”
Holly has been with the Ankeny Community School District for 16 years. Her previous roles for the district include P.E. teacher and girl’s basketball coach before beginning her current role in administration in 2013.
Honorees chosen as Athletic Director of the Year must have a minimum of five years’ experience and show qualities of achievement, excellence and character. Holly will be recognized at the annual IHSADA State Convention in March.
CHS Color Guard State Champs!
Congratulations to the Ankeny Centennial Winterguard! On Friday, December 4th they competed in the ISDTA State Championships at Wells Fargo Arena where they were named the State Champion in Color Guard Class III. This is their third state championship in the last 8 years.

The Centennial Winterguard’s production is entitled “Alice”, featuring music by Danny Elfman from the movie “Alice in Wonderland”.
The Centennial Winterguard consists of 24 students in grades 9-12 and is directed by Janelle Hook and Olivia Klaas.

State Champions – Black Group Stunt Team
Congratulations to the Ankeny Centennial Jaguar Cheerleading Squads for their state performances.
The Black Group Stunt Team, Lily DeBold, Ashley Simpson, Kelsey Taylor, Taylor Weaver, and Tessa Woerdehoff, were named the 4A State Champions.
The Timeout Squad placed 2nd, Fight Song squad placed 4th, Band Chant placed 4th, and the Silver Group Stunt Team placed 7th.
The Ankeny Centennial competition cheer squads are coached by Alyssa Howlett, Erin Blessman, Kaylee Brugioni, Emily Aukes, Kenzie Wyble, and Trinessa Handt. Congratulations Jaguars!

ACHS makes ESPN Honor Roll for Special Olympics
ESPN announced that Ankeny Centennial High School was on the ESPN Honor Roll for 2021 as part of it Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools. Only 25 schools in the country received this honor. The Jaguar PE Teacher, Jodi Larson, puts in an amazing amount of time and energy into Special Olympics on behalf of our students. Congratulations to our PE teacher and the Special Olympics team!

We have a split-schedule structure in the CIML conference that offers Girls’ Basketball and Wrestling in the early season (mid October – late December) and Boys’ Basketball in the late winter season (late December – late February). The 9th Grade Boy’s Basketball season officially begins on November 15. Practices are held after school from 4:00-5:30 pm in the Northview Main Gym. The “A” Team typically plays games on Tuesdays and Fridays. The “B” team typically plays games on Mondays. The “C” Team schedule does not include a typical day on which they play.

9th Boys Swimming
There will be an informational meeting for all boys interested in 9th grade swimming on October 28th, 2021 after school in the lunchroom. This meeting is open to any boy interested in swimming during the 2021-22 season.

Practice will begin in February and the season will end the week before spring break. We practice every school day from 4:00-5:30 at NV Middle School Pool . Centennial Marching Band Takes Home 1st Place
Congratulations to the Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band! On Saturday, September 25th, they took top honors at the Pella Marching Dutch Invitational. With 19 bands in competition, Centennial was awarded 1st Place and Best Colorguard. Additionally, Nathan Neppl was named Best Soloist in Class 4A.
Centennial’s show this year is entitled “Through the Looking Glass”. It features music from “Alice in Wonderland” by Danny Elfman, “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson, and “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. Centennial’s band director, Scott Hook says “The students have done a tremendous job putting together an extremely challenging show this year. It is so much fun to see them succeed at such a high level!”
The Centennial High School Marching Band consists of 185 students in grades 9-12 and is directed by Scott Hook, Nick Rueckert, Janelle Hook, Mary Harris and Jake Thieben. They are assisted by Dr. Chad Lensch, Jerrod Lister, Zach McVey, and Olivia Klaas.
The band’s next competition will be at Valleyfest in West Des Moines, on October 9th. They will be performing at 11:00am and 9:30pm.

Winning Edge Strength & Conditioning
A key component to the success of our athletics is preparing their bodies for athletic competition. The Activities Department has made significant investments in the weight room facilities at both Northview and Ankeny Centennial High School. We encourage your son or daughter to take advantage of the programs we will offer through our after school program and Winning Edge summer camp opportunities.
Summer Camps
Each sport at Ankeny Centennial High School offers a variety of summer camps for students who are interested in learning appropriate skills and techniques that will be used in the individual sports seasons. This is also a great opportunity to meet the 8th grade coaches.
